Swatch Guidelines

Here are a few guidelines for requesting your swatch to be uploaded on Beauty Swatch.

Your swatch must have..

  • High quality photo of the product, lip swatch & skin swatch (minimum 500 px wide, no more than 1MB)
  • Detailed product name (Brand, Shade Number, and Shade Name if available)
  • Rate how pigmented your lips are from 1 - 6 (1 - pale, 2 - normal / pink, 3 - medium, 4 - deep pink, 5 - dark, 6 - very dark)
Swatches are voluntary
BeautySwatch is a colour library of swatches voluntarily sent to me by readers.
I'm an ordinary blogger like you, and I'm not in the beauty industry or have access to many free products. If I swatch using a sample given to me, I will mention this in the post, or photo watermark.

Guest Swatchers
I do accept guest contributions from readers. This is a great option if you have a few lip colours you'd like to swatch, but don't want the hassle of doing this long term.

I like to ask how long can lipstick last? I mean will it expired? If it taste funny like bitter meaning its no good?

the original packaging should give an indication, eg. 12 or 18 months. But if the taste has changed, definitely throw it out!! Health is more important!

Hi Akisa, I think the same product colour can vary a lot depending on the skin tone of the swatcher. Is it possible to include the foundation shade of the swatcher? I think it'd give a better basis to judge if the colour is a good pick. Thanks!
